SICAMM Conference on the Island of Læsø in Denmark
September 10-12th 2004
It is organised as a
joint Conference between
SICAMM and BIBBA
in
co-operation with The Danish Beekeepers Association and Læsø Beekeepers
Association.
The Conference on conservation
of the Apis mellifera mellifera is organised on the isolated Island of
Læsø.
This island has since 1992 been a protected conservation area for the
original Apis mellifera mellifera.
This area is what the Danish guverment think is
good enough for the 'Brune bier' on Læsø.

Gammelgaard Feriecenter, Østerbyvejen 8. A, 9940 Læsø.

Extensive research by Prof. Bo West Pedersen from the
University of Copenhagen has shown the unique features of this bee and the
relationships to other populations of bees around the world.
